Tottenham to replace Cristian Eriksen with James Maddison

Tottenham Hotspur appear to have identified the possible Cristian Eriksen replacement.

Danish playmaker is once again being linked with a move away from Spurs, with Real Madrid said to be leading the race to sign him. Eriksen’s deal with Tottenham expires in 2020 and he has a long list of suitors across Europe.

Faced with a growing concern that they might lose one of their key players in the summer, Tottenham are preparing a back-up plan and are said to have identified Leicester City star James Maddison as a perfect Eriksen replacement.

Spurs are low on homegrown players and could try to solve two problems at once by getting one of the Foxes’ most creative players.

Maddison moved to Leicester last season in a £24 million deal form Norwich City but Tottenham are said to be his long-term admirers and to have followed him closely while he was on loan at Coventry City and Aberdeen.
