Desperate to try and find a much-needed boost in midweek, Tottenham will make the trip to Molineux on Wednesday night when they face off against Wolves.

Starting with the hosts, while Wolves might have managed to mark their return from the international break with a 2-0 win against Watford on the road, the Oranges drastically failed to keep up that momentum over the weekend. Missing out on what they thought was a golden chance at Molineux, new boss Bruno Lage saw his side get hit with a 2-0 loss against Premier League debutants Brentford. Losing four of their opening five top-flight contests, including a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Spurs last month, there is no doubt that the former Benfica boss will have a real headache over his side’s rather glaring issues in the final third. Once again drawing a blank against the Bees on Saturday lunchtime, Wolves have in fact failed to find the net in each of their four Premier League defeats so far this season.

As for the visitors, despite opening the 2021/22 campaign with three 1-0 wins on the bounce, Tottenham have really come crashing back down to earth since returning from the international break. Marking their September run with a stunning 3-0 drumming at the hands of Crystal Palace, new boss Nuno Espírito Santo saw his side put in another toothless display over the weekend. Shipping a trio of goals against bitter rivals Chelsea and still struggling to find their feet under the now-former Wolves manager, Spurs have also gained a reputation for their own issues in front of goal. With England skipper Harry Kane still waiting to notch his first Premier League goal of the season, it should also be noted that Tottenham have bagged just a single strike from open play. With each of the last three meetings between Wednesday’s opponents finishing with under 2.5 goals, we’re backing a similar outcome here.

Bet: Under 2.5 goals at Wolves vs Tottenham 7/10 for Wednesday’s EFL Cup showdown @ 888sport
