With a real chance to extend on their recent unbeaten run, Union Berlin will welcome debutants Arminia Bielefeld to the Stadion An der Alten Försterei on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, after rallying in impressive fashion to maintain their Bundesliga status at the back end of last year’s extended campaign, Union Berlin do find the mood in their camp at a real high. Putting on what was arguably a season-best display last weekend, Urs Fischer’s men landed an eye-catching 3-1 victory away at the same Hoffenheim side that ended Bayern Munich’s remarkable unbeaten run last month. Opening Saturday’s fixtures sat just a single point adrift of breaking into the European spots, the Berlin outfit now find themselves in the midst of a five-match top-flight unbeaten run that stems all the way back to the opening weekend. Also managing to land a 4-1 win against Hannover in a friendly showdown last month, Fischer’s side will be confident of making a similar statement.

As for the visitors, while Arminia Bielefeld might have managed to pick up what was a much-needed 1-0 win against fellow strugglers Koln last month, the Bundesliga debutants have endured a tough start to life in the top-flight. Last seen getting hit with a 2-0 defeat against Champions League outfit Borussia Dortmund last weekend, Die Blauen have lost each of their last four matchups on the bounce and it is no surprise that many have tipped Uwe Neuhaus’ men to find themselves at the heart of a relegation battle this time around. Now shipping eight goals in their three Bundesliga appearances since returning from October’s international break, we’re backing another tough trip to Berlin on Saturday afternoon.
