Upamecano wants to leave Leipzig

According to a recent report from Sport Bild, Dayot Upamecano has informed RB Leipzig that he wants to leave the club during the summer transfer window. The popular defender’s future has been a source of great debate for well over a year now, but with Leipzig’s recent surge in Bundesliga and in Europe, he decided to stay on the books.

On the flip side, Arsenal fans will be happy to hear this news with the Gunners being the frontrunners in the race to acquire his signature. The 21-year-old was on the radar of the North London club last year, but failed to get a deal over the finish line.

If they’re going to get the job done, then in all likelihood, they’ll need to put in a bid of around £55 million – or perhaps even higher.

Either way, it’s going to be an incredibly busy summer for all parties – regardless of what happens with their domestic seasons resuming.
