Valencia regret missing out on Kouyate

La Liga giants Valencia missed a chance to sign Senegalese midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate last summer, Superdeporte has revealed.

Los Che had agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old last June, but the club were unable to wrap up the deal as they waited for Peter Lim to complete the takeover process.

Kouyate eventually went and joined West Ham and has since enjoyed a great deal of success in English Premier League.

Following some strong performances in midfield and defence, the highly rated footballer has seen his stock rise a great deal, while catching the eye of quite a few top clubs in the process.

It remains to be seen whether Valencia will rekindle the interest in their long-term target, especially as the midfielder’s value has increased significantly over the last six months.

Kouyate, 25, has been an integral part of the West Ham side this term, making 17 Premiership appearances and scoring 2 goals.
