van der Sar: de Ligt NOT leaving in January

“We’re not going to sell a player halfway through the season. No way. If you have financial difficulties you might look at it, but for us no”.

Those are the words of Ajax’s chief executive officer and legendary goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar. The Dutchman was responding to rumours that Matthijs de Ligt would be leaving the club in January, with the 19 year old attracting a great deal of attention from the likes of Manchester City, PSG and most notably Barcelona.

Many fans expect de Ligt, alongside de Jong, to decide his future sooner rather than later, with many feeling like the Nou Camp will be their final destinations.

As much as that would intrigue the masses it certainly seems like Ajax aren’t going to budge – at least, not until the summer. They’re still doing well domestically and they’re into the Round of 16 in the Champions League, and the duo are both a big part of that.
