Vito Mannone joins Minnesota United

The MLS side Minnesota United have announced the arrival of Italian goalkeeper Vito Mannone.

The experienced 30-year-old shot-stopper arrives on a season-long loan deal from Championship outfit Reading.

Minnesota United have been looking to bolster their options in goal throughout the offseason with both Augustin Ross from Boca Juniors and Walter Viitala coming close to signing for the MLS club.

Manone will add a wealth of experience to Minnesota United and is expected to take over from Bobby Shuttleworth who’s been the club’s No.1 thus far.

The Italian’s arrival is expected to push Dayne St. Chair out of the club as the 21-year-old seventh pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft and national champions at the University of Maryland is looking for the regular place in the team in order to continue his development.

Vito Mannone spent seven years at Arsenal but never managed to prove his worth with the Gunners and spend the majority of time out on loans. In 2013 he joined Sunderland where he spent four years before moving to Reading.
