Watford agree Riera deal

Watford have completed the signing of former Liverpool midfielder Albert Riera on a short-term deal, according to Sky Sports.

The Spain international is set to move to Udinese in the summer having spent the majority of the past three seasons with Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig.

During his two previous seasons in England, the 31 year old finished as a runner-up in the Premier League under Rafael Benitez, while he has won titles in both Turkey and Greece.

He had made just twelve starts under Roberto Mancini this season, with four coming in the league, the cup and the Champions League.

The transfer is still subject to international clearance, and comes on the same day as Lloyd Doyley signing a new contract with the club.

The Hornets sit ten points behind the top six in the second-tier with a game in hand, and will hope to close that gap when they travel to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon.
