While we might only have a handful of Premier League fixtures on the cards this weekend, there are plenty of heavyweight affairs.

On a schedule that is highlighted by Tottenham’s trip to Old Trafford, the likes of Manchester City and Newcastle will also steal centre stage.

As the Premier League title chase looks to really heat up in 2024, we have taken an in-depth look at some of this weekend’s best betting markets.

Saturday, January 13th

17:30 Newcastle vs Manchester City

While Manchester City might have found themselves at the heart of a domestic wobble prior to November’s international break, the Sky Blues have come roaring back in some style. Extending on their FA Cup adventure last weekend as they breezed their way to a 5-0 romp against Championship outfit Huddersfield, Pep Guardiola’s men will now be desperate to make up some ground in the title chase.

Signing off 2023 with a routine 2-0 victory against relegation scrappers Sheffield United, the former Barcelona boss has seen his squad win all of their previous five appearances across all competitions.

Making real history last season as they became the first English club since 1999 to be crowned treble champions, Saturday’s guests have also found a major clinical edge in the final third.

Including their FIFA Club World Cup success out in the Middle East last month, Man City have notched 17 strikes on their five-match winning run.

Although Newcastle might have extended on their own FA Cup run last weekend as they secured a 3-0 win against bitter local rivals Sunderland, there has been some reported pressure on Eddie Howe’s shoulders.

Crashing out of the Champions League last month, the former Bournemouth boss has seen his squad lose six of their previous seven showdowns against top-flight opposition.

Opening the New Year with an action-packed 4-2 loss away at Liverpool, the Magpies have also failed to muster back-to-back victories since the start of November.

Likewise, last seen at St. James’ Park getting hit with a shock 3-1 drumming at the hands of Nottingham Forest, Newcastle will be bracing themselves for another stern examination here.

Newcastle vs Manchester City Best Betting Markets:

  • Manchester City win @ 4/6 with 1xBet
  • Phil Foden over 0.5 shots on target @ 8/15 with BetUS
  • Bruno Guimares to be shown a card @ 21/10 with Pribet

Sunday, January 14th

14:00 Everton vs Aston Villa

Only continuing on what has been an iconic Premier League run this season, Aston Villa will be looking to make another statement in their first top-flight appearance of 2024. Continuing to receive a string of plaudits from across England’s elite, it is no secret that Unai Emery’s high-flying squad have their sights firmly set on punching a famous Champions League ticket this year.

Last seen extending on their FA Cup adventure as they secured a late 1-0 victory away at Championship outfit Middlesbrough, Sunday’s guests also open this weekend’s fixtures sat just three points adrift of top spot.

Signing off 2023 with a lively 3-2 victory at home against relegation scrappers Burnley, Aston Villa have lost just one of their previous 13 straight appearances across all competitions.

With that extended purple patch stemming all the way back to November 5th, Emery’s men should be relishing a trip to Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

On the flip side, while Everton might have found themselves in the midst of their own remarkable flurry last month, Sean Dyche’s side have largely come crashing back down to earth.

Including a 3-0 drumming when they travelled to Wolves back on New Year’s Eve, the Toffees have failed to muster a single win from any of their previous five appearances against Premier League opposition.

Crashing out of the EFL Cup on December 19th as they suffered penalties heartbreak at home against Fulham, Sunday’s hosts have lost back-to-back showdowns in the blue half of Merseyside.

Hit with a 4-0 defeat when they arrived at Villa Park for their reverse Premier League meeting on August 20th, Everton could end this weekend’s fixtures back in the relegation zone.

Everton vs Aston Villa Best Betting Markets:

  • Aston Villa win @ 7/5 with Olympusbet
  • Ollie Watkins over 0.5 shots on target @ 8/15 with Dachbet
  • Nathan Patterson to be shown a card @ 3/1 with Luckster

16:30 Manchester United vs Tottenham

While Tottenham might have come under a huge amount of scrutiny last season as they missed out on the chance to book any kind of European adventure, Spurs are certainly enjoying a new lease of life under Ange Postecoglou. Receiving a host of plaudits for their new free-flowing approach under the ex-Celtic boss, has his sights set on punching a top-four return in 2024.

Opening the New Year sat just a single point adrift of breaking back into the Champions League spots, Sunday’s hosts have won five of their previous six domestic appearances across all competitions.

Extending on their FA Cup run last week as they secured a 1-0 victory against Burnley in north London, Tottenham will also be excited by their reverse showdown against Manchester United.

Landing a 2-0 win when they welcomed Sunday’s hosts to the capital back on August 19th, Postecoglou will certainly be calling on a repeat performance here.

Signing off 2023 with a 2-1 defeat away at Nottingham Forest, it is no secret that Erik ten Hag finds mounting pressure on his shoulders at Old Trafford.

Crashing out of the Champions League last month and continuing to struggle with their consistency, the Red Devils have won just a pair of their previous seven Premier League appearances.

Now tipped as a landslide outsider in their bid to book another top-four finish here, United have failed to collect back-to-back victories across any competition since the end of November.

Likewise, with just a single domestic clean sheet at Old Trafford since way back on September 26th, ten Hag’s inconsistent squad will be more than aware that they face a real must-win showdown here.

Manchester United vs Tottenham Best Betting Markets:

  • Tottenham double chance @ 7/10 with Vegas Land
  • Emerson Royal to be shown a card @ 11/4 with Pribet
  • Under 11.5 corners @ 19/20 with BetUS
