Willams completes Everton switch

The Mail Online understands that Everton have completed the signing of Ashley Williams from Swansea City.

The news comes after the Merseyside outfit sold John Stones to Manchester City for £47.5m earlier this week with Wiliams set to wear the number five shirt vacated by the England international.

Williams was one of the stand out performers as Wales defied the odds to reach the semi-finals of this summer’s European Championships, playing every minute of their campaign and scoring in the 3-1 win over Belgium in the quarter-finals.

The thirty-one year old moved to Swansea from Stockport County in February 2008 and made three hundred and fifty-two appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring fourteen goals.

He was part of the squad that won the 2013 League Cup, when the Swans beat Bradford City at Wembley by 5 goals to 0 and also helped the South Wales side win the Championship play-offs in 2011.
