Wolves go after Rochdale star Matheson

According to a recent report from Sky Sports News, Rochdale youngster Luke Matheson is in Wolverhampton for his medical ahead of a potential move to Premier League side Wolves. A deal is said to have been agreed between both clubs earlier on today, with the fee being reported to be around £1 million. The 17-year-old is set to be loaned back to Rochdale for the remainder of the season, although he still won’t be turning 18 until October.

The youngster first burst onto the scene earlier on this season when he put in a great performance against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup. Ever since then he’s been able to build on the momentum he created for himself, leading us to this point.

Wolves will be looking at Matheson as a long term project, but they’ll also probably be bringing him in to make up for the fact that Ryan Bennett is on his way to Leicester City.
