Real Madrid head coach has dismissed all suggestions that Raphael Varane could leave the club this summer.
“I cannot imagine a future without Varane and I don’t want to. He’s a young player, he has been here for eight years and he is doing very well. I’m not going to comment on what is being said outside, ” he said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
Plenty of reports have recently claimed that the 25-year-old wanted to leave Santiago Bernabeu in search of new challenges, having won everything there is to win there. Manchester United have been credited with strong interest on numerous occasions, but the media have recently switched the narrative of the story towards Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly as their main defensive target. Juventus have apparently been sniffing around too, with Italian outlets suggesting that the Serie A champions had even made contact with the player’s representatives.
Varane himself recently stated that he was happy in Madrid, but that did not stop the wild speculations. Zidane’s adamant stance is also unlikely to.
