Celtic are hopeful of getting Dedryck Boyata to sign a new deal this summer as he’s about to enter the final 12 months of the current one, in order to fend off strong interest from a number of clubs, according to Daily Record.
The defender is still on holiday following his exploits at the World Cup as he helped Belgium reach the semifinal, but it seems the extended leave was not the only thing to stem from his fine performances at the tournament in Russia. It seems he has caught the eyes of several clubs around Europe, with Lazio and Lyon leading the way, and Fulham also linked.
Therefore, the Scottish champions are keen to get him to sit down for talks with manager Brendan Rodgers and club’s CEO Peter Lawwell about a new contract as soon as he walks in through the door, and both of them are confident of the 27-year-old staying at the club.
