Arsenal closing in on Flamengo defender

Arsenal are known for years for being a side that has defensive issues and is unable to resolve those problems. Several players have been signed to fix things, but nothing really worked. All of that spanned since the days of Arsene Wenger, through the short spell of Unai Emery and is still relevant now that Mikel Arteta took over. Everyone at the Emirates will hope that will not be the case with the new signing.

And they are close to getting one, as Arsenal are reportedly close to signing Pablo Mari. The Flamengo defender has been apparently spotted at an airport with Arsenal’s technical director Edu, as Football London have reported. Mari is 26 years old and is set to complete a move to Emirates Stadium in the coming days worth around 7.5 million pounds.

Mari will become Mikel Arteta’s first signing as Arsenal boss, and has already said goodbye to his team-mates at Flamengo.
