Arsenal are back in for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins after hitting pause on a move for Viktor Gyokeres, according to Record. Although Gyokeres has turned down a potential move to Manchester United and would prefer to join Arsenal, the North London club are exploring alternative options because Sporting CP are now reducing their demands.
The Gunners have already held talks with Gyokeres’s agents and have offered £55 million for the Sweden international striker. However, the Portuguese giants are refusing to sell the striker for anything less than £85 million, even though Arsenal are willing to raise their bid to £60 million.
Sporting’s stance on Gyokeres has led to Arsenal looking at other options, and Watkins is now back on manager Mikel Arteta’s radar. Arsenal wanted to sign Watkins from Premier League rivals Villa in the summer transfer window and made an offer, but it was rejected.
