Aston Villa 9/4 to beat Rotherham and both teams to score in Wednesday’s Championship matchup

Competition: Championship

Market: Aston Villa win and both teams to score

Odds: 9/4 @ Bet 365

Two sides enduring battles at different ends of the table, Championship high-flyers Aston Villa will travel to the New York Stadium on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, coming off the back of a surprise 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest over the weekend, Rotherham will be desperate to build off of that result. Now sat one-point adrift of safety and desperate to book another season in the championship, boss Paul Warren will be desperate for his side to improve on their continued defensive issues. Despite now finding the net in all of their matchups at the New York Stadium in 2019, the Millers hold the worse defensive record in the second-tier. Remarkably recording just one clean sheet since the end of November, Wednesday could prove to be another tough test for the relegation contenders.

As for the visitors, putting in yet another eye-catching display in their 3-1 win away at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, the mood in Aston Villa’s camp will be on a high. Enjoying a six-match winning run in the Championship and climbing back into the playoff positions, Dean Smith’s side have continued to shine in the final third. Despite recording just one clean sheet in their last four appearances, Villa have now scored 12 goals in their last four and are also enjoying a three-match winning run away from the Midlands. One man to watch in midweek will be leading goalscorer and Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham. Finding the net in his last two outings, he now has 23 Championship goals this season.
