Aston Villa make contact to sign Gabriel Barbosa

Aston Villa are interested in signing Gabriel Barbosa from Flamengo in the January transfer window, according to 90min. It has been reported that Villa have made contact regarding signing ‘Gabigol’, but Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Chelsea and West Ham United are also interested in the Brazil international striker.

Barbosa is open to leaving Flamengo and moving to the Premier League in the January transfer window. ’Gabigol’ has told his club that he is ready to return to Europe, having endured a tough spell at Italian giants Inter Milan. Flamengo want £30 million for the striker, but an initial loan deal could also be an option.

Villa do have two quality strikers in Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings, and it is really interesting that manager Steven Gerard is looking for a third one. Barbosa could struggle to get playing time if he moves to the Villans.
