Athletic Bilbao want to re-sign Aymeric Laporte from Manchester City

Athletic Bilbao are interested in signing Aymeric Laporte from Manchester City in the summer of 2022, according to Fichajes. Laporte has fallen down the pecking order at deeding Premier League champions City, and La Liga club Bilbao want to bring back the 27-year-old.

Laporte joined City from Bilbao in the summer of 2018. The Spain international central defender has won the Premier League thrice, the FA Cup once, and the EFL Cup on three occasions with the Citizens. The City no.14 has scored one goal in five Premier League appearances so far this season. During the 2020-21 campaign, the defender made 14 starts and two substitute appearances in the league.

Bilbao are an established club in La Liga, but they do not challenge for the La Liga title or play in the Champions League on a regular basis. A return to Athletic may not be appealing to Laporte at this stage of his career.
