Benfica club president Luis Filipe Vieira has been suspended for two months for two different matters, one against the Portuguese football federation (FPF) and the other concerning a referee.

It was the Portuguese football league (LPFP) which revealed the news of the punishments for incidents during the 2007/08 season.

Vieira was suspended 15 days and fined 500 euros for giving offence to members of the FPF’s legal committee in an article published by A Bola sports daily newspaper in February, the LPFP said in a statement.

In a separate matter, Vieira was fined 1,500 euros and given a 50-day suspension for insults against a referee after Benfica’s 0-0 draw against Boavista in April.
