Berbatov finally looking like a top striker

Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has suddenly found his form.

He has already started the season in blistering form. Not just scoring goals but his general form has also gone up a gear.

Last season I said that Berbatov should leave United and it would be best for everybody if he did.

This season he is starting to prove me wrong. It’s just a start but it’s a very good start.

Right

A lot of pundits, journalists and fans questioned Sir Alex Ferguson’s judgement on the Bulgarian including me.

However the Scot’s faith in the 29 year-old looks like it’s about to be repaid this season. Maybe that’s why Sir Alex is one of the most successful managers off all-time and I’m just a writer.

The Scot saw something in him that we didn’t and kept him at the club instead of selling him on this summer. There was believed to be interest in the striker from Germany and Spain but Ferguson decided to resist the temptation to sell and it looks like an inspired decision so far this season.

Mercurial

Mercurial definitely sums up the Bulgarian striker. He can be quiet for most of the game and then suddenly produce a fantastic piece of skill. He is one of the most technically gifted players in the Premier League.

What he needed to find was consistency and he has hit a run of consistent form. He is a striker who when on form is almost unstoppable. That is what persuaded the United boss to spend £30million on the striker.

Laid Back

Berbatov is a very laid back character. Sometimes on the football pitch he looks so laid back that he could be asleep. He does have a languid style that makes him look lazy at times. When things are going against the team it’s the likes of Berbatov who get stick from fans because it appears he is not working hard for the team.

I don’t believe this is Berbatov’s fault it’s just a part of his personality and it’s why he is such a good player. Berbatov does everything in his own time and that’s why he produces pieces of skill other footballers wouldn’t even attempt.

Hard Work

According to Berbatov he worked extra hard this summer to get into the best shape he could. He told Sky Sports: “I have worked hard on my fitness. So hard. I’m not a weights guy, I’m sure you can see by my body. But I have been trying to even work on that.

“I ran six miles every day during the off season. I watched one World Cup match, went for a run, then watched another and went for another run. This was my routine.”

So he obviously realised he had to work harder to be a success at Old Trafford. All credit to him the hard work seems to have paid off but I’m wondering why he hasn’t tried that hard to put it right before the summer.

Gangster

His personality is summed up by a story I heard about how he learnt English. The story goes that he learnt English from watching American gangster films, as he is a big fan of films such as the Godfather. He certainly appears to be confident and cool in his interviews.

Retired

Berbatov is currently retired from international football. One of the reasons he retired was believed to be his struggle to find his form in England with United. If reports are to be believed German football legend Lothar Matthaus is set to take the reins of the Bulgarian national side. Maybe his appointment could be enough to tempt him back into the international fold.

Success

If Berbatov can keep up his current form then Manchester United will be hard to stop going forward. The rest of the United team obviously deserve credit but it’s Berbatov who is producing the goods at the moment and he is finally starting to look like a £30million player.

30 million dollars for this player is a rip off, Tevez was worth that much, he has more energy in the game and has contributed way more than this guy. this is blown out of porportion 7 games 6 goals…hes on fire right now but rooney isnt. when rooney gets back in form this guy is done! should have bought David Silva or Wesley snieder with that sort of money.
    PS Berba is so inconsistent.

haha – sorry Dave…i’m not trying to make your job harder here.

But I would think that to post a video, it would just be a matter of copying and pasting a link to a youtube video within the article? Maybe it’s more complicated tho – i’m not sure. I’d be interested to help out if there was an opportunity to.

the real deal, Berba’s been real consistant so far this season, and I don’t see how he could screw it up unless he gets injured.

Let’s see 5 games from now.

I am not convinced at all, Berba is talented but lacks consistency and ,at UTD, u need to be consistent.

That’s what highlighted the successes ofplayers like Cole, Cantona, Ronaldo, Schmeichel, Best.

    Consistency+ Talent= Fantastic Berba
