Competition: Championship
Market: Leicester win
Odds: 2/5 @ Pribet
Simply looking to widen their buffer at the top of the Championship standings on Tuesday night, Leicester will welcome Swansea to the King Power.
Starting with the hosts, while Leicester might have lost their Premier League status last season, the Foxes are certainly breezing their way to an immediate top-flight return. Opening Tuesday’s showdown at the King Power holding a commanding seven-point buffer over the chasing pack, Enzo Maresca’s side have also broken a string of Championship records. Last seen over the weekend extending on their FA Cup adventure as they claimed a 3-0 romp at home against Birmingham, the former Manchester City coach has seen his squad suffer just a single defeat from any of their previous 14 straight appearances across all formats – a run that stems all the way back to November 11th. Rightfully tipped as a landslide promotion contender in 2024, Leicester have also continued to gain a reputation for their rampant performances on home soil. Opening the New Year with a 4-1 victory against Huddersfield, Maresca’s men have won 10 of their last 12 contests at the King Power. Likewise, already notching 56 Championship strikes this season, the Foxes will certainly be smelling the chance to make another statement of intent in midweek.
As for the visitors, still battling it out in the bottom-half of the Championship table, Swansea almost find themselves sat in second-tier limbo. Although Luke Williams’ side might have opened the New Year with an eye-catching 1-0 victory against West Brom, the Swans have drastically struggled with their consistency this season. Crashing out of the FA Cup last week following a nightmare 5-0 drumming at the hands of Premier League outfit Bournemouth, Tuesday’s guests will be bracing themselves for another real challenge here. Last seen in Championship action getting hit with a 3-1 loss at home against Southampton, Williams will have a mounting headache over his side’s continued defensive issues. Tipped as a landslide underdog here, Swansea should also be worried by their most recent showdown against the runaway leaders. Slumping to another 3-1 defeat when they welcomed Leicester to the Liberty back on October 21st, the Swans have also gained a reputation for their extended issues on the road. Including a 5-0 drumming at St. Mary’s last month, the midweek guests have recorded just a single away win since the end of October.
