Bitesize Prediction: Middlesbrough vs Blackpool – 04/02/23

Competition: Championship

Market: Middlesbrough win

Odds: 3/5 @ 888sport

Simply looking to widen their buffer in the play-off places on Saturday afternoon, Middlesbrough will welcome Blackpool to the Riverside.

Starting with the hosts, making an immediate return to winning ways last weekend thanks to a 2-0 victory at home against Watford, Middlesbrough are enjoying a real Championship purple patch. Only continuing on a remarkable rise under one-time Manchester United coach Michael Carrick, the Reds now have a shock Premier League return at the top of their agenda. Sat third in the standings and riding what has been a stellar wave of momentum, Boro will simply be looking to lay down another second-tier marker here. Gaining a reputation for their clinical displays on home soil, Carrick’s high-flying squad have won each of their last four straight Championship showdowns at the Riverside. With that run highlighted by a 4-1 romp against Wigan when signing off 2022, the north east outfit are rightfully tipped as a standout pick this weekend.

As for the visitors, although Blackpool might have stunned Nottingham Forest back on January 7th, it appears that might have just been a minor boost for the Seasiders. Eventually crashing out of the FA Cup last weekend thanks to a 2-1 loss at the hands of Premier League outfit Southampton, new boss Mick McCarthy appears to have a tough job on his hands. Last seen in Championship action getting hit with a deserved 2-0 defeat against Watford, Blackpool have won just one of their last 12 straight matchups across all formats. With that extended blip stemming all the way back to October 29th, the former Cardiff boss should be bracing himself for another stern test here. Suffering a 3-0 drumming when they welcomed Boro to Bloomfield Road back on November 8th, we’re backing a similar home victory this weekend.
