Real Sociedad are facing a battle to sign Manchester United attacking midfielder Juan Mata. According to El Gol Digital, La Liga club Sociedad are interested in securing the services of Mata on a free transfer in the summer of 2021, but Premier League giants United have offered the 32-year-old a new deal.
The report has added that it is now up to Mata to make a decision whether he would accept United’s offer. If the former Chelsea star does sign a contract extension, then Sociedad will have to negotiate a transfer fee with United to bring the former Valencia star back to Spain.
According to WhoScored, Mata has made four starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for United so far this season, providing two assists in the process. The Spain international has also played seven minutes in the Europa League and 61 minutes in the Champions League for the Red Devils this campaign, according to WhoScored.
