Brighton plan £40m bid for Chelsea defender Levi Colwill

Brighton and Hove Albion are determined to sign Levi Colwill from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, according to 90min. The report has claimed that Brighton are preparing a club-record £40 million bid for the 20-year-old central defender, who spent the 2022-23 season on loan at the Blues from the Seagulls.

Colwill is one of the best young defenders around and did well for Brighton this past season. The England Under-21 international made 13 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Seagulls, providing three assists in the process. Colwill also made three appearances in the Carabao Cup. It remains to be seen if Chelsea would be willing to severe ties with the defender on a permanent basis.

Brighton finished the Premier League season sixth in the table with 62 points from 38 matches. Meanwhile, Chelsea ended up as low as 12th with 44 points from 38 games.
