Cardiff reject Arsenal bid for Marshall

Cardiff City have rejected an offer of £6m from Arsenal for goalkeeper David Marshall, the Mail Online understands.

The Scotland international was named the Bluebirds’ Player of the Year last season, but was unable to help the club avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

Marshall has made 191 appearances in all competitions for the South Wales club since signing from Norwich City in the summer of 2009 while he began his career in his native Scotland with Celtic.

Internationally, he has won eleven caps having made his debut ten years ago in a friendly against Hungary.

Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger is on the lookout for a new goalkeeper to provide competition for Wojciech Sczcesny, after Lukasz Fabianski sealed a move to Swansea City last month.

Arsenal also had Italian international Emiliano Viviano on loan last season, though he is set to return to Serie B champions Palermo at the end of the month.
