Confirmed: Inter sack Spalletti

After days and weeks of speculation, it is now official. Luciano Spalletti is not Inter Milan coach anymore. The Italian club have confirmed the departure of Spalletti, with Antonio Contewidely believed to be their next appointment.

A statement released by the club reads: “FC Internazionale Milano announces that Luciano Spalletti will no longer hold the role of first-team coach. The club thanks the technician for the work done and the path taken together.” Spalletti managed to reach the basic goal of qualifying for Champions League.

Inter’s position was not an easy one, but after a 2-1 win over Empoli, Nerazzuri have claimed the fourth place, reaching Champions League qualification in consecutive seasons. However, that was not enough, especially after a disappointing exit in Europe’s elite competition last December. Now Conte is expected to take over from Spalletti and Italian media claim he will be earning 10 million euros per season.
