Crystal Palace closing in on Cahill

Crystal Palace have been pretty shy this summer in their transfer dealings, but according to recent reports, they might be adding an experienced player to their squad. After only paying transfer fee for Jordan Ayew to Swansea City, who was already at the club on loan last season, they are close to signing Gary Cahill on a free transfer.

The Sun are claiming that the club from the Selhurst Park is closing in on signing former Chelsea defender. Cahill, who is 33, has left the Blues at the end of last season, following the expiration of his last contract, and is now a free agent. This means Palace will be free to sign him without having to pay a transfer fee and Cahill could bring a lot of experience to their central defence.

Roy Hodgson already managed Cahill when he was the national team coach of England and the oldest Premier League manager is hoping that the veteran defender could be one of the leaders of the new Crystal Palace side.
