Manchester United’s David De Gea is on the radar of Real Madrid following the return of Zinedine Zidane to the dugout, according to the Mirror.
The Spain international goalkeeper was linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu for several years before the Spanish giants eventually opted to sign Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea last summer in a £35 million deal. But the Mirror believe Zidane is not impressed by the Belgian whom he dropped in his first game back in charge for Keylor Navas, and given the vast amount of money to be put at his disposal for the upcoming transfer window, he will revive the club’s interest in De Gea. Apparently, £75 million is reserved for that very purpose.
United have triggered the option of extending the 28-year-old’s current contract until 2020, and they have been trying to get him to put his signature on a new deal that would see him earn £350,000 per week, but they’ve so far been unsuccessful. Whether he is holding out for more money or considering a move away from Old Trafford remains to be seen.
