US international midfielder Clint Dempsey has agreed a contract extension with Premier League side Fulham which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2010.

The American has been impressive since joining the Cottagers in the 2006 January transfer window from Major League Soccer side New England Revolution.

He has started 28 Premier League games so far this season, and is the club's top league scorer with six goals.

Fulham looked set for the drop just a few days ago, but back-to-back wins over Manchester City and Birmingham have given them renewed hope that they can avoid the drop against Portsmouth this weekend.
