An interesting transfer occurred in Germany. Borussia Dortmund have beaten RB Leipzig to the signing of Diadie Samassekou. Media from Salzburg are reporting that the Red Bull Salzburg star will be joining the Der BVB rather than the sister club RB Leipzig.
That was an unusual turn of events, as Leipzig usually had almost a monopoly on the best talents from Salzburg. However, the 23-year-old midfielder, despite expectations, decided to be against that move and chose Borussia Dortmund. The club from Signal Iduna Park have swooped in with a €20m offer and are now on the verge of completing the deal.
Samassekou played 45 times for RB Salzburg in all competitions last season, contributing with two goals and two assists. However, his performances from the centre of the park are not based on his goal contributions, but rather the work he does for the whole team. Now, at Dortmund he will be joining a much better squad where his potential could truly flourish.
