Everton tried to sign Duvan Zapata from Atalanta

Everton tried to sign Duvan Zapata from Atalanta on the final day of the January transfer window, according to TeamTalk. The report has claimed that the Premier League club made contact with the Serie A club on January transfer deadline day and made an offer to bring Zapata to Goodison Park.

The Toffees made an offer to Atalanta to sign Zapata on a loan deal with a view to a permanent deal. However, the Serie A club turned it down. While the Italian club were willing to make a deal if Everton wanted to sign the forward permanently now, they turned down their loan-to-buy offer.

Zapata has made eight starts and five substitute appearances in Serie A for Atalanta so far this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process. The forward scored 10 goals and gave four assist in 20 Serie A starts last season.
