Inter Milan to open Romelu Lukaku contract talks

Inter Milan plan to open talks with Romelu Lukaku over a new contract, according to 90min. It has been reported that defending Italian champions Juventus are interested in the former Manchester United striker, and Inter want to stave off their interest by tying him down to a new long-term deal.

Lukaku has been on the books of Inter since the summer of 2019 when he made the switch from United. The striker hit the ground running in Serie A and was a key factor why Antonio Conte’s side went so close to winning the Scudetto last season.

According to WhoScored, the striker scored 23 goals and provided two assists in 36 Serie A matches and scored two goals and gave two assists in five Champions league games for Inter last season. So far this campaign, the 27-year-old has scored eight goals and provided two assists in nine league matches and has scored four goals in four Champions League games, according to WhoScored.
