John Stones turned down Tottenham Hotspur transfer

According to The Daily Star, John Stones turned down the chance to join Tottenham Hotspur from Manchester City in the summer transfer window. It has been reported that Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho was keen on signing the England international centre-back this summer on a season-long loan deal.

However, according to the report, Stones turned down the chance to make the move to Tottenham. The former Everton central defender was reluctant to uproot his family and move to London despite having fallen down the pecking order at City following the arrival of Ruben Dias this summer.

According to WhoScored, Stones has played just 90 minutes in the Premier League for City so far this season. During the 2019-20 campaign, the 26-year-old centre-back made 12 starts and four substitute appearances in the league and played only 49 minutes in the Champions League for Pep Guardiola’s side, according to WhoScored.
