LIVE: Europa League final Atletico Madrid – Fulham

(GSM) – Welcome to Soccerway’s coverage of the 2009-10 UEFA Europa League final between Atletico Madrid of Spain and Fulham of England. The match is played at Hamburg’s HSH Nordbank Arena in Germany.

Current score: 1-1

Minute 59: The second half has not offered too much entertainment so far. Just half an hour left and if neither team scores before that, we’ll need extra time.

Minute 55: Bobby Zamora is done for the night and comes off for American Clint Dempsey.

Minute 53: Some of Atletico’s players want a yellow card for Gera who appears to clash with the keeper’s head after both rush for the ball. But it didn’t seem intentional and the referee doesn’t think so either.

Minute 50: Fulham now putting more pressure on Atletico’s defense but no real chances yet in the second half.

Minute 46: The second half is underway.

HALF TIME – It’s one goal each after the first 45 minutes. Atletico dominated throughout most of the half and there goal was to be expected. Fulham did surprise with the equaliser.

Minute 45: Simao tries a shot from long range but it can’t trouble the keeper. It’s been all Atletico in the last few minutes.

Minute 42: Things have calmed down a little after a hectic phase.

Minute 37: GOAL FULHAM!! Simon Davies equalises for the English! Zamora, Duff and Gera are all involved in an attack that ends with Davies smashing home a volley for 1-1!

Minute 34: Atletico are pressing for more, but Schwarzer has no difficulties with a low shot from Aguero.

Minute 32: GOAL ATLETICO MADRID!! Diego Forlan hits the target, with a bit of luck as he gets his foot to a failed shot from Aguero. 1-0!

Minute 27: Aguero is causing Fulham’s defense some trouble on the left wing, but he hasn’t managed to reached a teammate just yet.

Minute 23: About a quarter of the match has been played now and it’s turned into an entertaining encounter. No goals yet but it may not take much longer now.

Minute 20: Simon Davies tries a shot on goal for Fulham but goalkeeper De Gea easily saves.

Minute 18: The referee for tonight’s game is Italian Nicola Rizzoli, who also featured in the Champions League final between Manchester United and Bayern Munich a month ago.

Minute 17: First small chance of the night for Fulham but Zoltan Gera’s volley from the edge of the area goes well over.

Minute 16: The forward’s effort is good but keeper Schwarzer does well to collect the ball.

Minute 15: Free kick for Atletico from a relatively dangerous position. Jose Antonio Reyes may well take it.

Minute 12: Atletico so close to the opening goal! A defensive mistake allows Diego Forlan to try his luck but his low diagonal show hits the far post.

Minute 9: Hangeland could have faced a booking there as he seems to foul Aguero, but the referee waves play on.

Minute 7: Fulham have actually never played against a Spanish team before, so no history to rely on there.

Minute 4: A calm opening phase so far as the two teams are exploring each other.

Minute 1: The match is underway in Hamburg!
