Liverpool closing in on Moreno deal

Liverpool look set to complete a deal for Sevilla full-back Alberto Moreno after upping their offer to £20m, according to the Metro.

Last season’s Premier League runners up had previously had a bid of £17m rejected by the La Liga side, but they their latest bid looks set to be enough for them to land the player.

Brendon Rodgers is keen to conclude his transfer activity early this summer, having already wrapped up a deal for England striker Rickie Lambet who was signed from Southampton earlier this month.

The Merseyside club have also brought in midfielder Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen, as well as being strongly linked with a move for Bayern Munich’s Swiss international midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri.

Rodgers may also been on the lookout for another striker, after learning that Luis Suarez will miss the opening nine Premier League games of the season, as well as three Champions League ties and their Capital One Cup second round fixture.
