Liverpool eye Houssem Aouar as Georginio Wijnaldum replacement?

Liverpool are interested in signing Houssem Aouar from Lyon in the summer of 2021, according to Goal.com. It has been reported that the defending Premier League champions have identified the 22-year-old midfielder as a potential replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum.

Wijnaldum has been on the books of Liverpool since the summer of 2016 when he joined from Newcastle United. The Netherlands international has been superb for Jurgen Klopp’s side over the years and has been a key figure in the team winning the Premier League title and the Champions League, but the 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, and no new deal is in place yet.

Aouar is one of the best young midfielders in Europe and has already played over 100 times in Ligue 1 for Lyon. The 22-year-old has played once for the France national football team as well.
