Liverpool join race to sign Alexis Sanchez

Liverpool have joined the race to sign Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez, according to the Daily Star.

The Merseyside club are tabling a latch ditch £27m bid for the Chile international, who scored his sides first in their 3-1 win over Australia in Cuiaba in the World Cup Group C opener on Friday.

Manchester United and Juventus have also been linked with a move for the 25 year old, though Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to steal a march on his rivals with a big money offer.

Sanchez moved to the Nou Camp from Udinese in the summer of 2011, and has since made 141 appearances for the Catalan club in all competitions, scoring forty-seven goals.

Chile face holders Spain in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday, and can be backed at a generous price of 4/1 to take the three points that would all but guarantee their progression to the knock-out stages of the competitions.
