Liverpool linked with Benfica centre-back Antonio Silva

Liverpool are interested in signing Antonio Silva from Benfica in the summer transfer window, according to Fichajes. The report has claimed that Liverpool are on the hunt for a new centre-back due to the departure of Joel Matip and uncertainty over the performances of Ibrahima Konate.

Fichajes has claimed that Benfica are looking for £85 million in transfer fees for Silva, but it is too high for Liverpool, who ended up third in the Premier League table this season. The 20-year-old is one of the best young defenders in the Portuguese domestic league and has already played nine times for Portugal.

Silva has been on the books of Benfica since 2016 and has come through the club’s youth system to establish himself in the first team. The young centre-back has made 29 starts and one substitute appearance in Liga Portugal this season, scoring two goals in the process. Silva also played six times in the UEFA Europa League this campaign.
