Liverpool linked with Benfica defender Antonio Silva

Liverpool are interested in signing Antonio Silva from Benfica in the summer of 2023, according to Calciomercato. The report has claimed that Benfica value the 19-year-old Portugal international defender at £52 million, adding that negotiations over a deal could start as soon as the teenager is back from the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Silva has been on the books of Benfica since 2016 and is now part of the first team at the Portuguese giants. The defender has scored two goals in 10 Liga Portugal matches and has scored one goal in six UEFA Champions League games so far this season.

Liverpool are sixth in the Premier League table at the moment with 22 points from 14 matches, as many as seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who have played 15 games. Meanwhile, Benfica currently find themselves at the top of the Portuguese Primeira Liga with 37 points from 13 games, eight points clear of second-placed FC Porto.
