Germany coach Joachim Loew insisted Thursday this month’s World Cup qualifiers against Russia and Wales was no time to experiment, saying he would use only his tried and tested players.

“Russia and Wales are very important games for us, this is not the time for experiments,” Loew told magazine Kicker.

On Friday, Loew will announce his 22-man squad for the qualifiers in Dortmund against Russia on November 11 and against Wales in Moenchengladbach four days later.

Experienced midfielder Michael Ballack and Torsten Frings plus defenders Arne Friedrich and Per Mertesacker are expected to return having missed the 6-0 win in Liechtenstein and the 3-3 draw with Finland in Helsinki last month.

“The injury situation has eased, which I am glad about,” said Loew.

“It means we should have a better rhythm.”

Central defender Christoph Metzelder is expected to return to the side even though he struggles to hold down a place at Real Madrid.

With ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann now retired from international football, Hanover’s Robert Enke and Bayer Leverkusen’s Rene Adler are expected to be named with Enke set to start both games.

Werder Bremen midfielder Mesut Oezil is also set to be unveiled after the Germany Under-21 midfielder produced excellent performances against Bayern Munich and newly-promoted Hoffenheim in recent weeks.
