Luka Modric agrees Real extension

Real Madrid have reached an agreement in principle with Luka Modric about a 12-month extension of his contract, according to Marca.

The 35-year-old midfielder joined Real in 2012 for a reported fee of €35 million after four years with Tottenham Hotspur. Since then, he has gone on to make a total of 363 appearances for the Spanish giants, scoring 25 goals and laying on 56 assists for his teammates. He has so far helped the team to two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and no less than four Champions League trophies, and he has a Ballon d’Or on his shelf as well. At the age of 35, Modric remains a regular starter and a key player under Zinedine Zidane.

The current deal between Real and the 136-time Croatia international was set to expire at the end of this season, but he’ll be staying in the Spanish capital for another year, which will bring his spell at the Santiago Bernabeu to a well-rounded decade.
