Man United reignite interest in Strootman

Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport understands that Manchester United are readying a fresh assault on AS Roma star Kevin Strootman.

The Red Devils missed out on the long-term target last summer as the 24-year-old opted to join the Giallorossi, but the Premier League side are not giving up on the Netherlands international.

And with Oranje boss Louis van Gaal taking over the reigns at Old Trafford, it is believed the experienced coach will attempt to lure Strootman to Manchester in the upcoming transfer window.

The Red Devils are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements and van Gaal is convinced the left-footed footballer would be an excellent addition to the squad.

Kevin Strootman enjoyed a bright start to his career at Stadio Olimpico, having managed 5 goals and 6 assists in 25 Serie A outings, but he was unlucky to suffer a knee ligament injury in March that saw him miss the remainder of the season as well as denied him the chance to feature at the 2014 World Cup.
