Manchester United are interested in signing Antonio Silva from Benfica in the January transfer window, according to Fichajes. The report has claimed that the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners are looking for a new defender, and that the 19-year-old is on their radar.
Silva is one of the best young defenders in Europe at the moment. The 22-year-old came through the Sporting youth system and is now one of the first names on the teamsheet for the first team. Silva has also played three games for Portugal, scoring two goals in the process.
Manchester United are 10th in the Premier League table at the moment with 12 points from eight matches, five points behind Liverpool in fourth. Meanwhile, Benfica currently find themselves second in the Portuguese Primeira Liga table with 21 points from eight matches, a point behind leaders Sporting Lisbon.
