Mario Balotelli the second best player in the world, don’t make me laugh!

Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli believes that only Lionel Messi is currently a better player than him in the world.

That’s a big claim considering he hasn’t even proven he’s the best player at Manchester City.

Golden Boy

Balotelli has just claimed the ‘Golden Boy’ award for being the best under-21 player in Europe.

He won it ahead of Arsenal youngster Jack Wilshere. Does that make Wilshere the third best player in the world? Balotelli now wants to win the Ballon d’Or.

Confident

The Italian told Tuttosport: “I want to be the best player in the world,” “It is good to have ambition. I’ve said in the past that I don’t care what other people want or expect of me because I know what I want.

“I will always give everything because I want to become the best. That is my aim and I am determined to make it happen. I am really happy to have won the Golden Boy 2010, but who else should have won it if not me? Two years ago I finished sixth and in 2009 in fourth. Now it is my turn.

“Now my objective is to win the Ballon d’Or without age limits. To win the Golden Boy is a good omen to win the main prize. I am now a candidate for that. There is only one player who is a little stronger than me – Messi. All the others are behind me.”

The guy has never lacked confidence but that’s led to his downfall in the past. He fell out with Jose Mourinho on numerous occasions when the pair were at Inter, as their egos clashed and led to the youngster being left out of the Inter squad on occasions.

His ego will get him into trouble in his football career and he needs to start adjusting his attitude if he is going to be a success in the Premier League. He has already got into trouble at City clashing with teammate Jerome Boateng in training.

His attitude has already led to him being linked with a return to his homeland, where he was a controversial figure due to receiving racist abuse from opposition fans. I don’t think the disgraceful abuse he received in his homeland helped his attitude. Italian football fans have gave helped put an even bigger chip on his shoulder.

Inconsistent

He has had an inconsistent time at City since his arrival from Inter in the summer. At times he’s looked like the player he thinks he is and at times he looks like a useless spoilt child. When he’s good he’s usually very good, when he’s bad he’s invisible.

Talent

You can’t argue with the fact that he has big potential. We all know he is already very talented and he has all the attributes to achieve what he wants.  When he matures and gains a bit of experience he could be a very good player. It’s now up to the Italian to decide how good he wants to be.

Best

At just 20 years of age he has lots of time to prove that he is one of the best players in the world. He needs to start to perform on a consistent basis to be considered a top player. He has to start doing his talking on the pitch, rather than off it.

The likes of Ballon d’Or nominees Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi have performed consistently for years and won numerous honours.

Balotelli has experience of winning trophies with Inter but if he is to achieve his personal aims then he must help City become a major force in English and European football. Balotelli must now work hard and one day he may win that Ballon d’Or but I believe that day is a long way off just yet.

Will Balotelli achieve his goal of winning Ballon d’Or at Manchester City?

such an arrogant player isnt meant for a beautiful game like football.
He’s got more red cards than goals in his career so far and there are pointers that more REDS are still coming.
Except he keeps his head down, gets humble and listens to better players and people around him, then he can go ahead and win the ballon d’or in his dreams only.

BALOTELLI IS A GOOD PLAYER BUT HE NEEDS TO BE HUMBLE AND PLAY HIS GAME IF HE WANTS TO BE A GREAT PLAYER, A BAD ATTITUDE WILL TAKE HIM AWAY FROM THE GAME LIKE SOME OF THE LOST TALENTS OF THE PASS

@freaky: Balotelli is not one of the bes…but he is one of the good.

To be the best, it takes professionalism, humility and consistency but all we’ve seen from the wonderkid are endless, pointless personal rants at players that are better than him.

If he continues keeping his eye off the ball, he will soon end up at a low level club.

the mere fact Man City threw a shipload of money at him shows he is overrated. Just because I listed Americans doesn’t mean that he’s still better, look at their numbers, even when they were Balotelli’s age. Hernandez has played AND scored more consistently at United than Balotelli at City, too.

i know balotelli can be an arrogant fool most of the time, but lets be honest here….how many players his age are as good as he is or better than him??..someone said that he isnt better than dempsey, donovan and altidore??….dont make me laugh..cr at his age wasnt as good as he is and yes he is better than walcott, wilshere, hernandez, or anybody his age. yes he has a bad attitude but take nothing away from him. he is in no way overrated.

Jmartinez, so you say I don’t watch soccer? Well, you’re right because I watch FOOTBALL, learn how to call it the way it’s supposed to be (for the record I’m American, and I don’t even have access to all the channels and other resources I need to be a complete football anorak).
I said nothing about the press. I said nothing about Ronaldinho. All I said is “If Messi sucks, then I fell extremely sorry for everyone else.” You say I need to watch more. . . you need to read. Just because Ronaldo has more internation wins means nothing. So how about you get yourself back to the topic and that is about ONLY AND SPECIFICALLY Balotelli (being an arrogant dousche) and Messi (apparently the only player better than him). I have already done such. next time, you should too, as you said nothing on topic.

jastri77 and Brad, what BRAZZALE LE CAVALLARI is talkin about is the skill and mentality of this players, kaka, ronaldo, cristiano ronaldo, ronaldhino and messi are world best players, they all win the award in there time, jastri77, messi is the best player this year but u have to get ur facts rigth cause cristiano ronaldo have more international wins them messi, messi first international win was agains brazil ans it was a friendly he’s second was agains spain and it was a friendly u and brad need to watch and follow soccer and the players before u talk not just talk only for what the press is saying about them. also when ronaldihno win the award he was at Barcelona when he was the start and number one, those awards are win by the best players yes but the point that contribute more is who sell more jersey and whos more popular at the time. it’s always like that.

What a joke! This guy is one of the most overrated players of the last couple of years! What did he do at Inter? And now at City?. Mourinho figured out this guy pretty quickly – all smoke and mirrors – he’s no super star. Mancini will see it soon too – back to Italy for him and then he’ll bounce all over because he’s a self-centered a%hole who’s only interested in his image. Seriously, does anyone think he’d ever put the needs of the team ahead of himself?

Balotelli is just like Walcott in a way,Walcott has the talent but doesn’t have the brain to utilize this talent in a proper way.Same goes with Balotelli who has the talent but his too high of a ego.But all gr8 players have some defects e.g C.Ronaldo & Torres are both world class players but both have anger management issues.City have so much talent, but the real player to come out of that is C.Tevez.so I don’t think Balotelli will ever be nominated for Ballon’Dor
if he stays with City or doesn’t change his attitude.Wilshere is looking at the time as a future world class player because he has consistency & Balotelli doesnot.

too late Balodumby, you made me laugh. How could you be better than Drogba, Rooney, Ronaldo, Messi, or even Donovan, Dempsey, or Altidore. You’ll be a failure at City, just like all the other players, and you already are a failure. One hat trick doesn’t prove you’re the best. Hernandez would OWN you in his grave!

    Dear Mario,
I’m sure what u were saying was a slip of tongue becos u are the worst transfer of the season. Stop comparing urself with good players cos u are not one of them. If a defended like Rio could play 100 matches with a card, so what is ur excuse 4 always picking cards. When last did u see Messi been sent off? If am not mistaken, u arrived d same time with players like Chamakh, Chicharito, Gyan and others.

When it comes to rating these players are far better than u in all aspect.

Finally, Mr 2nd best trouble maker. My advice 4 u is 2 go get proper home training in africa cos we blacks don’t behave like that. Then u can build a better career.

NO! Super-Crazy-Ballotelli is inconsistently an exceptional player but he is not ready to win the Ballon d’Or…

This is a start tho…he set his goal and now we watch him go.

I don’t think he will ever win it unless his whole mentality changes…he has to love the game and give more to it…not love himself. The goal is to play the best football, not be the best player…best player comes when you play best football…
