Benni McCarthy is delighted to be back in favour at Blackburn as he sets his sight on a place at the 2010 World Cup. He had feared that his dreams would be dashed during Paul Ince’s disappointing tenure at Ewood Park, with the former England international reluctant to hand him regular first-team action.

“It is a relief to be playing again,” McCarthy was quoted.”I don’t know why the last manager didn’t pick me, but I would love to know why. Some managers just prefer certain players and if you don’t fit in then you don’t play, you just get the boot.”
