Brazil international Felipe Melo says he would prefer to stay at Galatasaray rather than return to Juventus at the end of his loan spell.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who joined the Istanbul club on a one-year loan deal at the start of the season, has a contract until 2014 with Juventus, but does not see a future for himself with the Bianconeri.

“It’s pretty much impossible for me to wear the Juventus jersey again. I do not want to return to Juve. I always did my utmost for the team, but the fans criticised me a lot and gave me a very hard time,” Melo told Milliyet.

“I really want to stay at Galatasaray. I love the club and am enjoying my time here. The fans appreciate what I do for the team. Istanbul is a very modern city and it’s a beautiful place.”

Galatasaray are keen to make Melo’s stay at the club permanent, but it is doubtful whether they are willing to meet Juventus’ asking price for the midfielder.

Local rivals Fenerbahce are closely monitoring Melo’s situation and are ready to make a move if Galatasaray fail to sign the midfielder.
