(GSM) – The Mexican Football Federation have dismissed reports suggesting that they are in talks with former Real Madrid boss Manuel Pellegrini.

The Chilean coach was relieved of his duties after just one year at Santiago Bernabéu last season, with his availability coinciding with the departure of Javier Aguirre as boss of the North American nation.

However, secretary general of the Mexican Football Federation Decio de Maria Serrano has dismissed the link.

“I can assure everyone that we have not talked to anyone, not with the representative of Pellegrini,” said De Maria, who insisted the Federation were taking their time in appointing a new man.

“I find it pointless to talk to four or five possible candidates before you have a project in place.”
