Pigeon killed in Argentinian game

The match between San Lorenzo and CA Tigre, played on Wednesday, had an innocent victim as result. A pigeon didn’t see the ball coming in time and spent its last moments on the pitch.

San Lorenzo defender Gaston Aguirre’s clearance hit the bird, who reportedly died on the spot.

Aguirre was understandably affected by the incident: “Poor pigeon. Now I will always be remembered as the footballer that killed a bird,” he commented.

If anything, San Lorenzo have a good chance of winning the Argentinian title when they face Boca Juniors on Sunday. If not for themselves or for their fans, then at least for the pigeon?
