Prediction: Real Madrid to win 3-0

Best Odds: 9/1

Almeria and Real Madrid will face each other in the opening weekend of the new La Liga season. The match will be held at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos in Almeria and is scheduled to kick off at 9pm UK time on Sunday.

Almeria will play in La Liga this season after winning promotion from the 2021–22 Segunda Division at the end of the last campaign. They won the title in the second division last season after picking up 81 points from 42 matches, level on points with second-placed Real Valladolid, who also finished on 81 points but had an inferior goal difference.

Rubi’s side are expected to fight for survival in La Liga this season, and they have to do it the hard way. Even though they are at home, winning against defending La Liga and European champions Madrid in their first game of the season will not be easy.

Almeria have been quite active in the summer transfer window so far. The Spanish club have brought in Srđan Babic, Marko Milovanovic, Gui Guedes, Houboulang Mendes, Kaiky and Martin Svidersky so far.

Team News:

Umar Sadiq and Srdan Babic will start for Almeria.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid won the La Liga title last season and won it convincingly. Carlo Ancelotti’s side picked up 86 points from 38 matches, as many as 13 points more than second-placed and bitter rivals Barcelona. It was one of the most convincing title success from Madrid in recent history.

Los Blancos also won the UEFA Champions League last season. On their way to their European success, Madrid won against Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool. The defending La Liga champions will face last season’s winners of the UEFA Europa League, Eintracht Frankfurt, in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday evening.

Madrid have not been very active in the summer transfer window. Los Blancos have brought in just Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni.

Team News:

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti will field a strong team against Almeria. Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric all are expected to start.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Real Madrid scored 80 goals in 38 La Liga matches last season.
  • Real Madrid conceded 31 goals in 38 La Liga matches last season.
  • Real Madrid lost 4 matches in La Liga last season.
  • Almeria lost 9 out of 42 games in the Segunda Division in 2021-22.
  • Almeria scored 68 goals and conceded 35 goals in the Segunda Division in 2021-22.

Almeria will be at home against Real Madrid and will be determined to put on a show. However, Madrid are much the better side and should be able to overpower their opponents with ease. It is hard to see anything but a convincing win for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. There is a chance that Almeria could score, but Madrid have far too powerful and potent an attacking unit not to put two or three past the home team.

Prediction: Real Madrid to win 3-0

Best Odds: 9/1
