Burnley and Luton Town will lock horns with each other in the Premier League this week. The match between Vincent Kompany’s side and Rob Edwards’s team will be held at Turf Moor and is scheduled to kick off at 7:45 pm UK time on Friday.

Burnley

Burnley were the most dominating team in the Championship last season. They won automatic promotion to the Premier League with games to spare, scored goals for fun, and played a brand of football that was becoming of the Premier League. However, things have been really bad for Vincent Kompany’s side in the top flight of English football.

The Clarets are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with 11 points from 20 matches. Burnley are two points above bottom side Sheffield United and are five points behind Everton in 17th. Things are dire and looking very bleak for Burnley.

Burnley will head into the Premier League match against Luton Town at Turf Moor on Friday evening on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur away from home at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London in the third round of the FA Cup. It came after successive defeats to Liverpool and Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Team News:

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is line up his team in a 4-4-2 formation. Muric will be in goal and will have Da Silva, O’Shea, Delcoioz and Taylor will be the four defenders in front of him. Zazoury, Ramsey, Cullen and Obobert will be the four midfielders and will have Foster and Amdouni upfront as the two centre-forwards.

Luton Town

Like Burnley, Luton Town also won promotion from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of last season. However, unlike Burnley, Luton had to sneak in through the playoffs. Not many expected to do so, but here they are, playing in the Premier League.

Just like Burnley, Luton are also in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season. Rob Edwards’s side are third from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment. They have picked up 15 points from 19 games and are a point behind Everton, who are 17th and have played 20 matches.

Luton will head into the Premier League match against Burnley away from home at Turf Moor on the back of a goalless draw with Bolton Wanderers at Kenilworth Road in the third round of the FA Cup. It came after a 3-2 defeat to Chelsea at home in the Premier League which followed a 3-2 victory over Sheffield United on the road in the league.

Team News:

Luton Town are likely to line up in a 3-4-1-2 formation. Krul will be in goal for the visiting team. Mengi, Osho and Bell will be the three defenders. Ogbene, Sambi Lokonga, Barkely and Doughty will be the four midfielders, Chong will be the playmaker and will have Morris and Adebayo in front of him as the two centre-forwards.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Burnley have won 1 of their last 6 Premier League matches.
  • Luton Town have lost 4 of their last 6 Premier League matches.
  • Burnley have scored 20 goals in 20 Premier League games this season.
  • Luton Town have conceded 37 goals in 19 Premier League games this season.
  • Luton Town have scored 23 goals in 19 Premer League matches this campaign.

Conclusion

Neither Burnley nor Luton Town have been particularly great this season, and it is hard to see the Premier League game between the two sides on Friday being a thriller. It is very likely that it will end in a draw.

Prediction: Match to end in 1-1 draw
